General description
Ethyl acetate is a commonly used solvent in column chromatography, gas chromatography, and thin-layer chromatography. It is also a greener solvent alternative that serves as a mobile phase component in RP-HPLC analysis of indomethacin in bulk drugs, nanoemulsions, and various pharmaceutical formulations.
Application
Ethyl acetate can be used as an extraction solvent in the modified QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) method to:
- Analysis of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables using GC (gas chromatography) with ECD (electron capture detection) and NPD (nitrogen-phosphorus detection).
- Determine the chlorinated compounds in soil matrices.
