ABSTRACT
The study was part of the UK EMS Genetic Toxicology trial, to determine the clastogenic potential of 4CMB in the bone-marrow cell chromosomes of the Chinese hamster. At dose levels of 50, 100, 200, 300 and 400 mg/kg of 4CMB statistical analysis of the data failed to show any significant differences in chromosomal damage between negative controls and 4CMB-treated groups. However, numerical increases in chromosomal damage were observed in the 4CMB-treated groups. The aberrations were at a low frequency but included the more severe types of chromosomal damage, such as exchange figures and dicentric chromosomes.
