General description

Sodium formate is the colorless sodium salt of formic acid. It can be prepared by reacting formic acid with sodium hydroxide or carbonate.[1] Its crystal structure has been investigated. Its crystals exhibit monoclinic-holohedral symmetry.[2]

Application

  • Intensity-dependent mass search for improving metabolite database matches in chemical isotope labeling LC-QTOF-MS-based metabolomics.: Sodium formate was utilized in isotope labeling for LC-QTOF-MS, improving metabolite database matching accuracy, thus enhancing metabolomics data quality (Li et al., 2023).

  • High-Yield Synthesis of Enantiopure 1,2-Amino Alcohols from l-Phenylalanine via Linear and Divergent Enzymatic Cascades.: The study highlights sodium formate′s role in enzymatic cascades for the efficient synthesis of enantiopure amino alcohols, important intermediates in pharmaceutical synthesis (Corrado et al., 2022).
