General description

Acetone is a highly volatile and a flammable liquid, which comes under the class of ketones having an aromatic odor.[1]
This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food.

Application

Acetone may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in human breath[2][3] and plasma[3] by various gas chromatography techniques.
Acetone′s luminesence intensity is dependent upon the solution components . The absorption of UV light by acetone, results in its photolysis and the production of radials .
