General description
Alsever′s solution is an isotonic, balanced salt solution. It is routinely used as an anticoagulant or blood preservative, which permits the storage of whole blood in refrigerators for approximately 10 weeks.
Application
Alsever′s Solution has been used:
- as a preservative of whole blood collected from Meleagris gallopavo, Oreochromis niloticus, and Salmo salar
- as a diluent for severe acute respiratory syndrome–related coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) peptide Kode Technology-modified red cells (C19-kodecytes)
- for preserving hemolymph collected from shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei)
