EZ-Fluo Rapid Microbial Detection System

Rapid and Quantitative Detection of Microorganisms

EZ-Fluo System is a rapid fluorescence-based technology for the early detection of contaminants over a broad range of filterable matrices. The EZ-Fluo system uses a non-destructive method to speed up the detection of microbial contamination. Unlike many other rapid test systems, this method allows the identification of microorganisms from the same sample, after they have been stained, using any standard ID technology.

EZ-Fluo™ Rapid Microbial Detection System
  • Rapid results in one-third of the time in comparison to traditional techniques
  • Flexible approach based on standard membrane filtration with reduced incubation time on a media plate
  • Non-destructive method—compatible with any ID technique
  • Compact hardware – fits easily on any laboratory bench
  • Cost-effective solution for routine and investigatory use

EZ-Fluo System Applications and Sample Types

The EZ-Fluo system can rapidly detect and quantify microbial contamination in any filterable sample. Potential applications are numerous in pharmaceutical, beverage, and personal care industries for testing the following sample types:

  • Raw materials
  • In-process samples
  • Final products
  • Environmental samples

Faster Product Release

Today, more and more QC laboratories are switching to rapid methods for the detection of microbial contamination to reduce the time to result. Traditional methods require several days to provide results and have limited value when it comes to faster release of products to the market or conducting investigations if necessary.

EZ-Fluo™ Rapid System can detect viable microorganisms filtered on a membrane filter down to 1 CFU per sample. EZ-Fluo™ test results are easily comparable to compendial methods, which facilitates the validation and the integration of this rapid system in any laboratory without causing disruption.

EZ-Fluo™ System - Workflow

The EZ-Fluo™ Rapid Detection System consists of a reader and staining reagents used in combination with filtration membranes and standard culture media.

Sample preparation: The sample contaminants are collected by membrane filtration using the EZ-Fit™ Filtration Unit. After a short incubation time, media plates are removed from the incubator. Each membrane filter is then transferred onto a cellulose pad that has been soaked with the EZ-Fluo™ fluorescent staining solution. The membrane filters are further incubated for 30 minutes.

Micro-colonies enumeration: The fluorescent stained colonies can be counted two ways – directly through the viewing window of the EZ-Fluo™ reader or using the EZ-Fluo™ Camera and dedicated software, which projects the image onto a computer screen.

Re-incubation: After reading, membrane filters can be re-incubated onto the culture media for later collection and identification of microorganisms if contamination of the sample was detected.

EZ-Fluo™ Spot Counter Software

The EZ-Fluo™ camera combined with the EZ-Fluo™ Spot Counter software makes the sample reading more convenient and allows you to track records for optimized microbiology QC labs. Download the software here.
