Rogier Janssens

As Head of Life Science China, Rogier Janssens leads the team responsible for advancing our strategic growth, strengthening customer partnerships, and expanding our impact across China. He oversees the regional leadership team and drives efforts to deepen local collaboration, accelerate innovation, and deliver solutions that support China’s scientific and biopharmaceutical progress.

Rogier brings more than 30 years of global healthcare and pharmaceutical experience to the role. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Head of Latin America Healthcare at Merck, where he led the region to significant growth and transformed the organization into one of the company’s fastest-growing regions worldwide. He also championed talent development and supported major initiatives addressing critical healthcare needs across Latin America.

Before that, Rogier was Managing Director and General Manager of the company’s Healthcare business in China and Vice Chairman of the R&D-based Pharmaceutical Association (RDPAC) Executive Committee. His leadership helped strengthen the company’s position in China through increased localization, expanded stakeholder engagement, and significant advances in innovation, market access, and patient reach. He previously led the Merck Biopharma Russia, where he established a fully integrated local entity and advanced key initiatives in manufacturing localization.

Prior to joining the company in 2013, Rogier held senior roles at Alcon. He holds degrees in Sterile Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Marketing, and completed executive studies at Harvard Business School.
